Designations for keyboard operations
Pressing and Releasing
Pressing (depressing ) a key means pressing the key down to the stop and keeping it depressed until further notice.
Releasing a key means releasing the key that was previously depressed so that it is no longer touched.
Tapping
Tapping means to press a key as far as it will go and then release it again immediately.
Key combinations
On a German keyboard, the Ctrl key is labeled Strg.
- „Ctrl-V“ means:
- Press „Ctrl“,
- Tap „V“ ,
- Release „Ctrl“.
- „Ctrl-A, Ctrl-V“ can be realized in abbreviated form:
- Press „Ctrl“,
- Tap „A“ ,
- Tap „V“ ,
- Release „Ctrl“.
Microsoft uses “+” instead of “-”. (For example, Microsoft writes “Ctrl+V” instead of “Ctrl-V”).
