Expressions in Python
A large program is made up of many small programs. Some of these small programs are called expressions.
An expression is a sequence of characters that is constructed according to certain rules, which will be specified later.
For example, one such rule is: An expression that starts with a quotation mark »"« must contain another quotation mark. So »"Hello, world"« is an expression, but »"Hello, world'« is not.
- an expression
"Hallo, Welt"
- not an expression
"Hallo, Welt
The Source-Code Model
A model is a description, and an entity of a model is something that is described in the model.
The source code model is the description of the structure of the source code.
Expressions are entities of the source-code model.
- That is, expressions are terms used to describe the source code. They belong to the topic of the source code.
