Programming
Programming means to write an expression (text) with the intention of a certain behavior. The behavior should occur when the expression is evaluated. The expression is correct if it produces the intended behavior.
Examples of programming tasks:
- Write a text that makes people laugh (when they hear it for the first time) (a joke). The program is correct if it really makes people laugh when it is spoken (even if it violates several rules of the Duden grammar). So it's the effect that counts (expressions are instrumental )! The evaluation here is the recitation of the joke (performance).
- Write a dissertation (expression), which will be accepted by the examination board and graded at least “good”. Here too, the goal is a certain effect. The evaluation consists of submitting the dissertation. (The grade can be deemed the “value” of the dissertation.)
