Joodo

Joodo  is a Java  application for lists of chores that are to be done with a certain frequency of days.

It determines the chores due according to when they where last done and to their frequency. When multiple chores are overdue, the one with the highest urgency will be presented top-most. Chores can be marked as done. The chore list is a text file that can be edited with every text editor.

The current version "Joodo Light Preview 1.0 R0 " misses many features, but can already be used as a simple manager for lists of chores that are to do with a certain frequency of days.

The following is the actual todo list as read by the current Joodo  implementation.

example.ring.uno
< < 1 8 [do the dishes] 2005-09-06T19:45:00+02:00 >
< 1 8 [take out garbage] 2005-09-06T19:45:00+02:00 >
< 2 6 [vacuum and mop] 2005-09-06T19:45:04+02:00 >
< 2 6 [do the laundry] 2005-09-06T19:45:04+02:00 >
< 7 4 [clean out fridge] 2005-09-06T19:45:04+02:00 >
< 7 4 [clean bathroom] 2005-09-06T19:45:04+02:00 >
< 7 4 [water plants] 2005-09-06T19:45:04+02:00 >
< 7 4 [clean kitchen] 2005-09-06T19:45:04+02:00 >
< 7 4 [dust] 2005-09-06T19:45:04+02:00 >
< 7 4 [paperwork] 2005-09-06T19:45:04+02:00 >>

This means: do the dishes every day (»1«), do the laundry every other day (»2«) and clean the bathroom every seven days (»7«).

When more than one entry is to be done, a function will determine the priority by the amount of overdue-time and by the precedence of the entry. The precedence is given as the second number in each entry. (Later versions of Joodo  will not use the precedence anymore.)

The application reads the size of its window from another file:

Appner.app.uno
< height=121 width=370 >

Short manual for the use:

When working with Joodo, do the topmost entry, i.e., the entry with the highest priority, and then mark it as done. Entries with a negative priority are not due.

Short manual for the menu entries:

View/Save Window Size Saves the current size of the window as the default size.

View/Exit Exits the program. This will not  warn when the state was not yet saved. So don't forget to save!

Help/About Displays a short "about" notice.

Help/Manual Displays a short manual.

Tools/Mark as Done Marks the topmost entry as done.

File/Save Table Saves the table to "example.ring.uno".

"example.ring.uno" is a text file, you can edit with any text editor to enter or modify the table (while Joodo  is not running).

The name »Joodo «

The name Joodo  was used by Stefan Ram  since 2005-09-07 in his website and the newsgroup »de.comp.lang.java« for this product. Joodo  is called Joodo, because it tells you, what you do.
