Techyle
Techyle is a specification for the meaning of names of format styles.
Character Styles
Every word with more than one letter written in only-uppercase letters within a natural-language text is considered to be an acronym. Therefore, there is no special markup for acronyms.
uac
Output of a computer, usually within a text console interface. See the style »uau«.
Example The system will respond with »READY.«
Mnemonic “As Computer output”
uad
An name of a system or good. Not of a person.
Example Once Excel has been started, one might use it.

uae
An emphasis. To be set in italics if possible.
Example This should never be done.

Text in another language than the main text. But use the style »udl« for Latin text, the style »ude« for English text within a body of another language, the style »udg« for German text and the style »udh« for French text..

Text to be understood as a description rather than literally.
Example One should insert lastname in this field. (I.e., do not insert the literal text »lastname«, but the value/meaning of the variable »lastname«.)

Text of a formal language. This is intended to be rendered in a monospaced font, where every glyph can be recognized unambiguously even without context. So the letter "l" should be different from the digit "1" and the letter "O" different from the digit "0".

User input. Usually, for texts in formal languages, the style »uat« is preferred. The style »uau« is intended to be used in combination with »uac« to format dialogues between a system and a user.
Example One should enter »dir« to list the files.
